OCTOBER 12-15, 2000

Cecilia Bonaccio Clark and her husband, Scott, announce the birth of their daughter, Mia Isabella, on June 3. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 14 oz. and was 19.75 inches in length. Her godmother is Elizabeth Godfrey. . . . David Cole is a sixth-year corporate associate at Baker & McKenzie in Washington, D.C. He e-mails that he would "love to get together" with Rochester alumni in the D.C. area. . . . Matthew '94M (MD) and Julie Haelick Eagleton '92, '94S (MBA) announce the birth of their daughter, Emily Faith, on June 8. . . . Joseph and Corine Nenno Keyes '92 (MS) announce the arrival of their first child, Douglas Patrick, on March 17. Joe is an attorney in Boston and Corine is a stay-at-home mom. . . . John King e-mails that he has left Corning and is now pursuing his M.B.A. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His wife, Shawn Shepard King '91, finished her M.B.A. at UNC-Chapel Hill last spring and has since been working as a market manager for Performance Fabrics Group in Greensboro, N.C. . . . Melissa Martinez e-mails that she would like to reconnect with classmate Dennis Webster. . . . Michael Park married Hwa Chong Yu on June 19 at the Memorial Church at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. . . . John Quinzi '99S (MBA) married Lisa Attardo on May 29 at the Church of St. Jerome in East Rochester. He is a senior marketing analyst for Xerox Corp. in Webster. . . . Marni Siskind married Herb Lustberg on August 22, 1998. She is working as a senior production manager for Random House, Inc., in New York City, and her husband is a radiologist in Bridgeport, Conn. The couple lives in Fairfield, Conn., with their dog, Simon.

Peter Barrett reports that he has finished his doctorate in genetics at Harvard Medical School. He writes: "I'd like to thank some of my classmates who were so supportive during the last several years (some of which were quite difficult), particularly Lee Frank '92, '97S (MBA), Kara Penna Frank '93, Tom Walters '89, and Don Stanchfield '93, '96 (Mas). I have accepted a position as a research fellow in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital where I'll be continuing my research. My new e-mail address is: barrettp@helix.mgh.harvard.edu." . . . Julie Barrie married Curtis Culberson in a private ceremony in northern California on June 2. In July, the couple had a party in Washington, D.C., to celebrate their marriage and several Rochester friends were in attendance: Lauren Green, Pamela Delp Polashenski '98M (MPH), and Joel Wojciechowski '92. Curtis graduated from business school in June and is now a management consultant with Marakon Associates. Julie has started a new job as an attorney/advisor with the Federal Communications Commission. The couple has bought a house and is living in Washington. Julie adds: "Hello to Will Madland (where are you?), Colleen Farrell '92 (ditto?!), Jennifer Sherry '92, '93W (MS), and Michelle Brissette (sorry you guys could not come to the party)--please be in touch! Melissa Bonifacio e-mails that she and her husband, Mark Bonifacio, have a new daughter, Rebecca Dan, born on February 4. The family lives in New Milford, N.J., and can be contacted at Mbonifacio@msn.com. . . . Rebecca Cohen writes that she was ordained into the Unitarian Univeralist ministry during a ceremony in Lexington, Mass. She's currently working as a pediatric chaplain at the Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati while she looks for a position in a church. Deb Derylak '93 and Pam Spindler '93E attended the ordination service. . . . Anthony DeSouza sends an update: "Well, after graduating and then working in Rochester until 1994, I moved to Indianapolis. Who knew? What a great town! In 1997, I started my M.B.A. and on June 13 was awarded the degree with concentrations in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago. Now I am off to Boston to make my fortune!" . . . Julie Haelick Eagleton '94S (MBA) (see '90). . . . David Englert married Janet Ashman on October 24 at Ogden Presbyterian Church in Spencerport, N.Y. He is an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Rochester. . . . Michelle Ferreri married Scott Jacobia on April 24 at the Church of Christ the King in Irondequoit. Both the bride and groom are working on their doctorates and are graduate research assistants at SUNY-Buffalo. . . . Eric Lambert reports that he is working for Prodigy Communications Corp., one of the largest Internet service providers in the country, as associate counsel. He handles intellectual property and customer care matters. He notes: "My Swingshot!? experience has come in handy as a bass with Gravy, New York City's smoothest a cappella.". . . Lisa Smith '94 (MS) married Barry Goldstein '91, '94 (MS) at the University's Interfaith Chapel on May 29. Dan Conery '91 and Sharon Steadman '94 (MS) were in the bridal party. Also in attendance were Amy Kustas '91, Carol Henderson Roeder '91, Janet Prantis-Surovcik '91, Risa Greene, Sonya Vora, Lisa Krzanowicz, and Roberta Engbar Linkow. Sarah Hartman married Jeffrey Knauss on June 12 in Rochester. She is a teacher's aid at BOCES in nearby Fairport, N.Y., and he works in product development at Xerox. . . . Thomas Hurka joined the law firm of Baker & Daniels as an associate in the Indianapolis office. He is a member of the employment relations team. . . . Joseph Orenstein e-mailed: "I've been commissioned as a first lieutenant in the Army JAG Corps and will be stationed in Fort Knox. Ky., as of October. My wife, Megan Clark Orenstein '92, is expecting our second child, who is due just after our arrival in Kentucky." . . . Amy Perry married Kevin Gelabert on August 14 in the Interfaith Chapel on the University of Rochester campus. Dawn Buyze Leaske '94 and Nikki Izzo were both in the bridal party. . . . Scott Petoff writes that his wife, Jennifer Maciejewski Petoff '95, finished her Ph.D. in chemistry at Stanford University and is now a senior chemist with Union Carbide in central New Jersey. Scott is working as a senior software engineer with Wave Systems near Princeton. He notes: "While we miss northern California, we are excited about purchasing our first house together in Belle Mead, N.J." . . . Joseph Petrosino received his doctorate in microbiology and immunology from the graduate school of biomedical sciences at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston on May 25. . . . Scott Philbin joined the law firm of Harris Beach & Wilcox, LLP, as an associate in the insurance litigation and product liability defense practice group. He will focus on insurance defense, civil litigation, and personal injury law. . . . Deborah Swetts Sarama received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland in May. She is now a pharmacy practice resident at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore. . . . Henri Welter is living in Houston, where he works for S&S Energy Products, a division of General Electric Power Systems. . . . Erik Wignes reports that he is in San Diego working a new job, pursuing a Ph.D., and soon to be married. He adds: "Jonathan Dunne and my sister are engaged. Soon to be married myself. Meliora."

Sharon Ingram Chin writes: "In August, my husband, Martin '91 (MS), '94 (PhD), and I moved one last time--to Iowa (yes, Iowa). Martin is teaching chemistry at the University of Northern Iowa and I've just graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law and have begun looking for work as an attorney in our new hometown. This January we will celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary!" . . . Alison Dickson e-mailed that she and Peter Kozloski were getting married October 2. CampusCareerCenter Worldwide LLC, co-founded by Gary Geraci and Matthew Casey '95, was profiled in an article that ran in the June 28 Boston Business Journal. The Brookline, Mass.-based Internet job posting and research company specializes in jobs and internships with large multinational companies for international students and Americans who want to work abroad, or for foreign students who want to work in the United States. . . . Justin Miller is working as an associate attorney for Sullivan, Cunningham, Keenan, Mraz & Lemire of Albany, N.Y. . . . Leonard Opanashuk is second assistant district attorney and special assistant United States attorney for Wyoming County in New York state. . . . Maricar Pacquing and Aaron Weiss each received the doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in June.

Stewart Bushman reports: "I've finally finished my master's in aeronautical and astronautical engineering at the University of Illinois and I'll be heading out to Sunnyvale, Calif., to work in satellite propulsion at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space. In even happier news, a whopping three of six former residents of the Woodbine Palace (701 Woodbine Ave.) have wed in the last 12 months. Thomas Stone wed Susan Wake in June 1998, Derek Henderson wed Lisa Hertweck in September 1998, and Stephen Davala '96 wed Laurie Robeson, sister of maid of honor Wendy Robeson '97, in June. The accompanying photo contains all three happy couples from Derek's wedding. In addition, all six men in the photo donned tuxedos as groomsmen for Steve and Laurie's wedding!" Richard Butler e-mailed that he is a lieutenant in the Navy with plans to attend department head school in Newport, R.I., starting in October. In addition, he has accepted tentative orders to report to the USS Hopper in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as the operations officer. He and his wife, Jennifer Gould Butler, celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary this year. . . . Matthew Casey (see '94). . . . Lance DeSpain reports that in May 1998 he was promoted to captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for his work as the Camp Lejeune budget and finance officer. He says he's starting his "new" life this fall at the Yale School of Management in New Haven, Conn. He will focus on strategy and operations and hopes to move into management consulting after graduation. . . . Daniel Goldberg e-mails that he is engaged to Mary-Lynn George with a May 2000 wedding planned. He adds: "Coming on the heels of my brother's (Michael Goldberg '93, Take 5 '94) June marriage, it has been quite a year and obviously there is more excitement to come in the year 2000!". . . Amy Horton received a juris doctor degree, cum laude, from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University in May. . . . Jennifer Jones e-mails: "I have the best of both worlds in my two jobs! I work as a paralegal for a solo practitioner in downtown Rochester and also for a music company by the name of ART (Applied Research and Technology) as artist relations coordinator. I've met all sorts of gifted people in the music industry including The Barenaked Ladies, Sarah McLachlan, a host of FOH engineers, and most recently my teen idols, Rob Hyman and Eric Brazilian of the group The Hooters. I've been accepted to law school and plan to attend in a year to study entertainment law. I love the music industry!" . . . Janine Jurkowski writes that she completed her master's in public health degree in Boston in 1998 and is currently a second-year Ph.D. student in public health in Chicago. . . . Adam Keats e-mails: "Renee Radbill '94 and I were engaged in April. Renee is completing her master's in public health at the University of Illinois at Chicago while working as the director of customer relations for a suburban physician-hospital organization. I am an Internet project manager for Edelman Interactive Solutions." . . . Jason Scally graduated cum laude from Suffolk University Law School in Boston. . . . Michael Tan graduated from Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine in May and has begun his residency in internal medicine at Summa Health System located in Ohio.

Christine Blonski e-mails that she is attending the Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a member of the class of 2003. . . . Rod Bugarin e-mails an update: "You've just got to love e-mail! After informing my Rochester buddies of my whereabouts, I received tons of e-mail replies. Here is the scoop: Prea Gulati '95 is taking time off from her Ph.D. in economics at Columbia University to work for the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. Rob Sudakow '97 is moving to Boston just as Chris Webb decides to leave Beantown to start anew in San Diego with Nichole Chandelieri. Lauren Herko is living it up in Chicago, not only as chair of the Meliora Club in Chicago, but she is also taking classes and playing sports. Jill Bernstein just graduated with her freshly minted master's in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health with fellow alumna, Sara Sinha. Jill is now on fellowship in Philadelphia and loving her new apartment. Rick Lemoncello '97 is finishing up his master's in communications at Emerson College this August. Satya Reddy is completing his third year of medical school at the University of Kentucky and can't wait to find a residency program in a city that will complement his passion for travel and culture. Finally, that leaves me--after spending three years at the Hampshire College Admissions Office, I am happy to announce that I have been appointed as the assistant dean of admission at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. Also, my partner and I have opened a bed and breakfast in Northhampton, Mass., so if any Rochester alumni are in the area, we would love to show you our place!" . . . Asher Epstein (see '97). . . . Arthur Meconi and Jennifer DeForest were married during a September 26 ceremony in Unadilla, N.Y., that was attended by several alumni. The couple lives in Southbridge, Mass. . . . Gennosuke Takahashi is working at Credit Suisse First Boston Securities in Tokyo. . . . Christa Tinari reports that she is living in Washington, D.C., where she is pursuing a degree at American University in international peace studies and conflict with a concentration in practical applications of nonviolence. . . . Lori Vella was a summer associate at the Rochester law firm of Harter, Secrest & Emery, LLP. She is a second-year law student at Albany Law School, where she is managing editor of production for the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology and is involved in several organizations. . . . Brian England has joined the law firm Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, LLP. . . . Rebecca Fernandez is attending the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. . . . Aaron Gleason is in his second year of clinical psychology training at the University of Connecticut. . . . Ashley Caldwell Gosling married Christian Isliker '98S (MBA) on July 18, 1998, in Pittsford, N.Y. (We apologize for misreporting Ashley's maiden name is the fall installment of Class Notes.) Ashley's father, David Gosling '63, writes that the couple has purchased their first home in Marthalen, Switzerland, north of Zurich near the German border and would enjoy seeing their friends or corresponding with them via e-mail. Kaleb Michaud e-mails that he is continuing work on his Ph.D., studying lipid bilayers and integral membrane proteins on microfabricated chips at Stanford, where he also is chair of the graduate student council. He reports: "In June I had my right wrist replaced and thumb fused and will be having similar things done to the left side soon." He adds: "Busy as usual, but I would love to make time to catch up with all the wonderful folks I miss so much from Rochester." . . . Julie Reisler married Asher Epstein '96 on July 25 in Potomac, Md. Carlene Abbatecola '99W (Mas) sends an update: "I have finished my master's at the Warner School and am now teaching sixth-grade math and science in Hyde Park, N.Y. I live in northern Westchester County in Mount Kisco." . . . Michele Grady e-mails that she is in her second year of law school at American University's Washington College of Law in D.C. This summer she was a law clerk at the U.S. Attorney's Office in the homicide division in Washington, D.C. . . . Tricia Jean Purcell received a 1998-99 Joshua Montgomery Sears Jr. Prize from the Harvard Law School. The award is given annually to the two students with the highest grade point averages in each nongraduating class. . . . Gregory Shanko was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force on May 21. He is working with the 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Fla. He reports: "I will eventually become an air battle manager and work aboard the E-3 AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control Systems)."

Erica Fee e-mails: "I am currently enrolled in the advanced certificate in professional acting program at the Arts Educational Schools, London, with 20 other graduate students from around the world. I have my Rochester experience, especially the faculty in the Theatre Program, to thank for helping me gain acceptance to this prestigious institution. Thank you!" . . . Lauren Mangiola reports that she spent a week traveling with her family in London and has moved to Wilmington, N.C., where she is working as a manufacturing engineer for the telecommunications products division of Corning, Inc. Jeremy Rothman e-mails that he has been selected as a 1999-2000 Orchestra Management Fellow for the American Symphony Orchestra League and has assignments with the New Jersey Symphony, as well as in Aspen, Colo.; Baltimore; and Elgin, Ill., during the year. . . .
