FOUR APPOINTED TO NAMED CHAIRS

Dante Cicchetti, professor of psychology, psychiatry, and pediatrics, has been named the inaugural Shirley Cox Kearns Professor of Psychology. Cicchetti also is director of Mt. Hope Family Center. The new professorship honors the wife of David Kearns '52, former chairman of the University Board of Trustees and former CEO of Xerox Corporation (for more on Kearns, see After Words).

Larry G. Epstein, professor of economics, is the newly appointed Elmer B. Milliman Professor of Economics. The professorship was established in 1977 by friends of Milliman, former chairman of the board of Central Trust Company, University alumnus (Class of '19) and trustee, and longtime Rochester civic leader.

William D. Jones, professor of chemistry, was named the Charles Frederick Houghton Professor of Chemistry. The professorship was established in 1925 by Houghton's widow. A vice president of the Corning Glass Works, Houghton was active in government affairs in New York State and the State Assembly.

Shaul Mukamel, professor of chemistry, was named the C. E. Kenneth Mees Professor of Chemistry. The professorship was established in honor of Mees, who headed the research laboratories of Eastman Kodak Company for more than 40 years.
