1972

Carl Schwait writes that he was reelected to the board of governors of the Florida Bar. Carl represents the lawyers and judges of six rural counties in north-central Florida. He’s the managing partner of the Gainsville law firm of Dell Graham and an adjunct professor of law at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law. He has been selected for the second year by Law and Politics magazine as one of Florida’s “Super Lawyers.”

1973

Jack Weinberg writes that he retired in December 2004 from the Camden County (N.J.) Prosecutors Office, where he was an assistant prosecutor for 27 years. He created and headed the appeals unit for that office and ran the unit for the last 21 years of his tenure there. In August 2005, he opened his own law firm in Cherry Hill, N.J., specializing in appellate matters. He married Sharon Saidman Weinberg in April 1994.

1975

Jake Welch e-mails that he won the 110-meter high hurdling competition at the 2007 State Games of America with a time of 18.7 seconds (7/10 off an all-American time). The event was held at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. A former sprinter and hurdler on Rochester’s track squad (1971–75), Jake also won gold in the high hurdles from 2004–06 in the Empire State Games Masters Division (ages 50–54). Jake is an attorney practicing in personal injury law in Corning, N.Y.

Jesse Finkelstein has been named in the Lawdragon 500 Dealmakers in America for 2007. He is a director for the law firm of Richards, Layton & Finger in Wilmington, Del. . . . Richard Josephson has joined Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine as director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and director of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation. The move comes after nearly two decades in Akron, Ohio, where he was in private practice in cardiology with professorial appointments at the Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine, the University of Akron, and Kent State University. Of his children, he writes, “Our youngest child, Mitchell, is currently a member of the Class of 2011, and thus Lori Cohen Josephson ’78 and I are batting .667. Our daughter Emily graduated UR in 2006; our rebel son, Adam, is currently a junior at Emory.”

Robert Bly has been included in the 2007–08 edition of The Heritage Registry of Who’s Who in recognition of his work in the field of direct marketing services. . . . A June 2007 ceremony marking an important occasion in the Naval career of Capt. Sean Pybus served as a minireunion of Rochester alumni. In June, Pybus, who has been selected to serve as a rear admiral, was formally relieved of his role as commander of Naval Special Warfare Group One in Coronado, Calif. Retired Cmdr. Sara Zak ’80 sends a photo from the day. Pictured with Pybus after the ceremony are Zak (center) and Capt. Other Rochester NROTC graduates stationed in the San Diego area who were invited to the ceremony but either missed the photo or were unable to attend included Capt. Don Reidy ’80, who is stationed at Naval Special Warfare Command, and retired Cmdr. Tom Schibler ’81, who was deployed to the Western Pacific with Naval Special Warfare Group One. Sean’s next duty station will be U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa, Fla.
