1975

Tapan Mitra (PhD) and Kazuo Nishimura ’78 (PhD) have coedited a collection of papers by their Rochester mentor, Lionel McKenzie, the Wilson Professor Emeritus of Economics. Tapan is the Goldwin Smith Professor of Economics at Cornell and Kazuo is director of the Institute of Economics Research at Kyoto University. The book, Equilibrium, Trade, and Growth: Selected Papers of Lionel W. McKenzie, traces the development of McKenzie’s thought in three key areas of postwar economics.

1978

Kazuo Nishimura (PhD) (see ’75). . . . Rich Notargiacomo (MBA) is president of Innovation Focus—Rochester, an executive coaching and consulting firm that helps firms accelerate growth through innovation and new products. He started the company last year after retiring from a 34-year career at Kodak. He is also completing the second year of his term as chairman of the board and president of the Product Development and Management Association, a 3,600-member, international professional association.

1980

Robert Atcher (PhD) is completing his year as the president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine. The Society has 17,000 members, including physicians, technologists, scientists, and pharmacists working in the field. Robert also has been appointed a University of New Mexico—Los Alamos National Laboratory Professor of Pharmacy in the University of New Mexico’s College of Pharmacy.

1985

W. Scott Gould S (MBA), ’87W (EdD) has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as President Barack Obama’s pick for deputy secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Previously, he had been vice president for public sector strategy at IBM Global Business Services. He also has a new book out: The People Factor: Strengthening America by Investing in Public Service (Brookings Institution, 2009), cowritten with Linda Blimes.

1994

Darlene Bressler W (PhD) has been named vice president and academic dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana Wesleyan University.

1999

Babacar Camara (PhD) is an associate professor and chief program advisor in Black world studies and comparative literature at Miami University of Ohio. He has also published Marxist Theory, Black/African Specificities, and Racism (Lexington Books, 2008), which examines the utility of Marxist theory in discussions and analyses of race.

2006

John Summers (PhD) has published a collection of essays in cultural criticism, Every Fury on Earth (Davies Group, 2008).

2008

Scott Martzloff W (EdD) is the new superintendent of schools for the Byron-Bergen Central School District in western New York.
