The 2005-2006 Annual Report

Two Medical Center Programs Rank among America’s Best

Some of the nation’s best medicine is found in Rochester. That’s according to the U.S. News & World Report’s 2006 list of America’s Best Hospitals, which placed the Medical Center’s gynecology program 43rd and otolaryngology program 45th. The report surveyed 16 specialties in nearly 5,200 hospitals nationwide.

“It is a tribute to our entire faculty and staff for their commitment and dedication to improving lives by providing the best possible care for our patients,” said Brad Berk, senior vice president for health sciences and CEO of the Medical Center. “We are fortunate to have many physicians and medical researchers in Rochester who are on the cutting edge of their respective specialties.”

The nationally recognized gynecology program made the U.S. News & World Report list in 1999; this year is the first that the otolaryngology program was ranked. The otolaryngology program is among the top 20 in NIH funding for ear, nose, and throat research.
