Classic Tales Retold at Eastman Opera Theatre

The Eastman Opera Theatre staged several productions during the academic year, including Cendrillon (above), by Jules Massenet, an operatic retelling of Cinderella, and Claudia Legare, based on the Ibsen play Hedda Gabler and set in post–Civil War South Carolina. Composed by Eastman alumnus Robert Ward ’39E, Claudia Legare has been produced only three times since its 1978 premiere.
