Overview
The David T. Kearns Center is committed to supporting graduate students within the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Through a comprehensive approach that includes recruitment, academic and social support, and fostering a strong sense of belonging, the Graduate Programs team aims to provide graduate students the resources and community they need to thrive.
Our programs are designed to enhance students' academic success, cultivate professional growth, and build a supportive and inclusive graduate community.
Graduate Student Support Initiatives:
- CASC 401 – Navigating the Graduate Academy: Offered each Fall/Spring semester, this course is designed to help students transition into graduate education and develop the skills needed to excel in their academic and professional careers. It provides structured guidance on navigating graduate school, building networks, and preparing for future opportunities beyond academia.
- Graduate Students of Color (GSOC): GSOC is an inclusive and empowering organization dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the voices of historically marginalized students. The group fosters community, promotes learning about diverse cultural experiences, and creates a space where graduate students of color can find support and opportunities for engagement.
- Professional Development Diversity Travel Award: This award provides financial support for graduate students to attend professional and academic conferences, ensuring they have access to valuable networking, research presentation, and career development opportunities. By reducing financial barriers, this award empowers students to expand their academic and professional horizons.
The Kearns Center’s mission is to transform lives through educational opportunity, and the Graduate Programs team plays a crucial role in advancing that mission. By supporting students at every stage of their graduate journey, we aim to foster academic excellence, professional success, and a more diverse and inclusive academic enterprise.
