Presented by Anne-Marie Algier, Associate Dean of Students

As Associate Dean of Students it is my pleasure to recognize Women’s Club Soccer with the Award for Excellence in Programming. We have over 275 student organizations on campus and to win this prestigious honor the group must clearly exhibit outstanding leadership and dedication. This organization has truly succeeded in providing quality performance in all aspects of their organization and especially in the programming realm.

Typically our club sport organizations do not offer campus programming beyond the main mission of their group. It is difficult enough for clubs to find appropriate space for their activities, maintain practices, and travel to games if they are classified competitively. In order to grow their organization, Women’s Soccer decided they wanted to go beyond the normal requirements and offer additional programs to campus. They wanted to offer more students an opportunity to try soccer and get involved. With this goal in mind they set about planning for a 3x3 soccer tournament open to the entire undergraduate population. It was a positive bonding experience for their team as they set about creating an action plan for all the necessary steps including reservations, supplies, publicity, registration and so much more. Their advisor, Kyle DeManincor, was quite impressed with their efforts and noted: “They worked closely with me on waivers and were on top of registering the event on CCC and working with service providers in a timely manner”. He also praised their marketing efforts and was pleased to see their passion come to fruition.

Another recommender, Jennifer Nicholson, was not surprised the group was being recognized for their outstanding programming efforts as they had exceeded expectations last year and continued to excel this year. In her words:“This team continues to impress me with their commitment to programs on campus, in addition to the Turkey 3x3 Tourney, they co-sponsored Club Rochester”.

Due to their dedication and contributions to campus life Women’s’ Club Soccer has demonstrated they are worthy to be the recipients of this year’s Excellence in Programming Award.

Congratulations!!!!
