University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Thursday, November 30, for Ronald Bliek, a certified pharmacy technician at Strong Memorial Hospital, who died on November 6. Bliek joined the University staff in 2016.
Sustainability Office staff to focus on waste minimization
Phil Piedmont, waste minimization specialist and the most recent addition to University Facilities and Services’ Sustainability Office team, will focus on reducing the amount of waste the University sends to the landfill, maximizing waste diversion, and leading well-known recycling events and programs. The Mindful University Project is offering its Mindful Professor Training for teaching faculty and course instructors at the University this spring. The program is rooted in cutting-edge research and practices and aims to offer participants a variety of tools to access ways to return to calm, be present with themselves and others, utilize mindful leadership skills, enhance teaching effectiveness, and learn what actions they can take to support students’ well-being.
The training lasts three months and includes seven hour-long workshops and two one-hour mentorship coaching sessions. Find more information and register.
