COVID-19 Self-Test Kits Available for Student Pick-Up

University Health Service (UHS) has a limited supply of COVID-19 self-test kits available to students who are currently covered by the mandatory health fee, and who are intending to spend time with family or friends over the Thanksgiving break. These kits are covered by the mandatory health fee and there is no additional cost to students.

Each kit contains two nasal swab self-tests—one to be completed prior to the holiday or traveling, and the second can be used upon return to campus or at the end of the semester. These test results will not be sufficient for international travel, surveillance testing requirements, or in lieu of any test ordered by a medical provider. All positive test results should be followed by a call to UHS, (585) 275-2662, to notify clinical staff of the positive result and to receive further instructions. Each student may receive only one test kit.

Students who are covered by the mandatory health fee—all full-time students are—can pick up a test kit at one of the locations below. You must present your student ID.

Basic Needs Hub Connects Students with Campus, Community Resources

As the weather turns colder and the end of the semester nears, students may find they need help securing food or warm winter clothing. The Basic Needs Hub was created to facilitate the connection of campus and community resources for students in need. Basic needs security refers to food, clothing, housing, and academic tools. This includes winter gear such as coats, boots, hats, and gloves. If you are a student in need and would like to request resources, complete the resource request form. Demonstrated need, availability of resources, relevance, and timing of the request will all be taken into account when allocating resources.

The Food Pantry continues to be a resource for students facing any kind of food insecurity.  Both in-person shopping and online order options are available. Plan ahead for the upcoming Thanksgiving Break as the pantry will be closed on November 25 and 26. The pantry will be open for its regular hours on Tuesday, November 23 (3 to 6 p.m.),  and on Sunday, November 28 (2 to 5 p.m.).  Email wcsa@rochester.edu if you have any questions.

Shuttles Offered to Airport and Bus or Train Station

Complimentary shuttles will be available on select days to transport students to and from the airport and train and bus stations. The Students’ Association has coordinated with the Department of Transportation and Parking Management to provide shuttles on Wednesday, November 24, and Sunday, November 28, for those traveling during Thanksgiving Break. Follow SA on Instagram or Facebook for information regarding the full schedule and stop locations.
