Regional Success In Both Formats

February 24, 2020

URDU had a great run in the District 8 Qualifier Tournament and the Northeast Regional Championship tournament this past weekend.

We had novice teams who won some hard-fought rounds as well as some big success in the varsity division: most notably, Rochester AM, Ali Abdulla and Ben Morbeck, became the first team from Rochester to qualify to attend the prestigious National Debate Tournament in seven years! This is an incredible historic achievement for the URDU. Ben and Ali, you’ve done us proud! Go Yellowjackets!

Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C. the URDU had a great showing at the US Eastern Regional Championship for British Parliamentary debate.

Special congrats go out to Nyle Qavi Masoom and Syed Sabeet Raza Kazmi for finishing as quarterfinalists, Natasha Abrol and Prinaya Choubey for finishing as semifinalists, Meghana Kandarpa and Niki Linganur for breaking as judges, and Warish Zaman Orko for serving as a top notch DCA! Everyone learned a lot and did really well on this trip to our nation’s capital!
