January 23, 2023
We have been busy over winter break—preparing, but also debating—and we also just welcomed some new members to the team.

UR Debate traveled to Washington, D.C. earlier this month to compete in the Georgetown Debate Tournament. In the end, our novice team had a challenging weekend, but JV-er Isabel Edelstein went home as a semi-finalist, competing with a UT-San Antonio debater. We look forward to more fantastic tournaments this semester!
The URDU also held its spring general interest meeting last Thursday, along with a new debater workshop on Saturday, to welcome new members to the team. We’re excited for these new Yellowjacket debaters to have long and successful debate careers!

Look out next month for UR Debate to host the Novice National Debate Championship Tournament for British Parliamentary debate! We will be welcoming first-year debaters from institutions all over the country to compete. Anyone is welcome to join us for the event; more information will be forthcoming.
