Philanthropy

Many of our volunteers help us advance the University’s mission in the spirit of philanthropy. Donors who support the University of Rochester or one of its schools or units share a common characteristic—the desire to make a difference. We have a number of opportunities that offer volunteers a chance to share the story of why they give, promote giving opportunities via social media, thank donors, and more.

George Eastman Circle Leadership Councils

George Eastman Circle Leadership Councils are comprised of volunteer leaders who actively strengthen the Circle’s presence in key regions around the country. Council members promote high-end annual giving to an identified group of the University’s closest alumni and friends and serve as outstanding alumni ambassadors, an example of the philanthropy and leadership that makes the University of Rochester “ever better.” Contact us for more information about George Eastman Circle Leadership Council activity in your area.

Regional Philanthropy Committees

Volunteers on our Regional Philanthropy Committees partner with Advancement staff to identify and engage alumni and friends to encourage greater connection to the University of Rochester. Members serve as ambassadors for the University’s priorities, programs, and events, making the case for support via outreach, events, and in-person visits with Advancement staff. Day of Giving

Each year, the University of Rochester holds a 24-hour push to support any school, program, or giving area across the University and its Medical Center. A gift or pledge of any amount to any fund counts! Our volunteers help drive the success of our Day of Giving by promoting it on social media using #URMakingaDifference.

Ambassadors in Gift Planning

Ambassadors in Gift Planning are exemplars of future giving utilizing a variety of gift planning opportunities to meet their personal philanthropic goals. These volunteers promote gift and estate planning and a shared vision for the future of the University through their own personal stories. All ambassadors in Gift Planning are members of the Wilson Society, which honors those who have included the University in their estate plans.
