in Camp Lejeune, N.C. . . . Laura Hales married Tarik Soliman on September
14, 2001, and sent a photo. In attendance were (from left to right): Jennifer
Traylor Kruschwitz '95 (MS), Dawn Tudryn Piciacchio, the bride, Anne
Wagner Merton, and Nita Warner Walsh '88. Unable to attend because of
the events of September 11 were Kathy Michaels Gronborg '90N, Caroline
Embler Andrew '90N, and Robert Patrick. Fern Daum Kumar '90N
was unable to attend due to the birth of her second child. Laura is a molecular
biologist at Purdue Pharma's research and development facility, working on antibody-based
therapeutics, and Tarik is a postdoctoral fellow in cell biology. . . . Peter
Howell sends an update. His job with HSBC has taken him to England for the
past year and a half. He writes, "As a training manager, I've traveled
around the world as both a sales trainer and business development consultant.
On September 11, I was in the Middle East, traveling from Dubai to Saudi Arabia-an
interesting time to be in that part of the world, to say the least." .
. . Eileen McCarthy Cakouros writes of the birth of her daughter, Anna
Mae, on October 6, 2001. She weighed 8 lbs., 1 oz. Eileen and her husband, Jason,
live in Milton, Mass. . . . Navy LCDR Garrett Farman received his master's
degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. . . . Robert
Gaddy has been hired as a lobbyist for the Rochester Rhinos professional
soccer team. Robert is a former legislative aide to Assemblyman David Gantt,
one of the most vocal opponents to moving the proposed $49 million soccer facility
from downtown Rochester to Gates, N.Y. . . . Paula Metzler has been added
as an associate at Evans & Fox, L.L.P. . . . Michael Safran married
Lauren Saul in November 2001. He is an advertising-sales manager at Sports
Illustrated magazine, and she is a social worker. . . . Douglas and
Jodi Rubtchinsky Smith announce the birth of their son, Daniel Douglas,
on January 28. "We, and big sister, Sophie, are adjusting to his arrival,"
they write. They also note the birth of Claudia Elettra to Anna Bognolo and
her husband, Ramy Rajballie, on November 3, in Rome, Italy, where the couple
lives.

Jennifer Bowie sends an update. She owns and runs Metal Werx, a Massachusetts
studio where she creates metal jewelry and sculptures. . . . Rebecca Tipton
married John Hiebert on June 10, 2000, and sent a picture. Attending the wedding

Lisa Krzanowicz Neilans writes that she was named a partner in the law
firm of Pheterson, Stern, Calabrese, and Neilans, L.L.P. She lives in Rochester
and concentrates her legal practice in the areas of real estate and banking
law. . . . Phillip Nel was a guest on WNYC's On the Line with Brian
Lehrer to talk about his book, J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter Novels: A
Reader's Guide. He also was quoted in USA Today and other newspapers
on the Harry Potter phenomenon. . . . Matthew Richter married Katherine
Koppett February 17. Both work in San Rafael, Calif., as trainers for QB International,
which develops corporate managers.

Jeremy Glick was honored posthumously as a hero during the halftime
of the USA versus South Africa international rugby match in December 2001. Glick,
a passenger on United Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania on September 11,
was credited as one of the men who rushed the terrorists on the plane, crashing
it far away from its intended target. . . . Andrew Silverstone was awarded
a Cancer Research Training Award by the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda,
Md. As a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institutes of Health,
he will try to develop a treatment for genetic immunodeficiency disease in dogs,
which may pave the way to treat this affliction in humans. . . . Jennifer
Smith joined Pomco as a client service analyst. She has more than five years
of claims and insurance experience and previously served as a consultant with
Ano Consulting.

Larry Boodin and his wife, Kimberly, write of the birth of their first
child, Hannah, in August. Larry works for Zurich Insurance as an environmental
analyst, and he is finishing his M.B.A. at Johns Hopkins. His wife is taking
a leave of absence as an elementary school teacher to take care of their daughter.
. . . Amy Schwittek Holzman and James Holzman write to announce
the birth of their second child. Born on April 19, 2001, Jeffrey Conrad weighed
8 lbs., 13 oz., and measured 22 1/4 inches long. He joins their daughter, Rachael,
who is 3. "In October of 2000, we moved to Charlotte, N.C. We enjoy living
in this part of the state," they write. . . . Dennis Tucker was
awarded a grant from the Xeric Foundation to assist in publication of Tales
from Birdbun Theatre, a 48-page book based on his nationally syndicated
comic strip.

Lisa Leombrone Hoffman writes to announce the birth of her first baby,
Tyler John. He was born on January 30, weighing 7 lbs., 10 oz., and measuring
20 3/4 inches. She and her husband, Paul, are active in the Air Force and will
be relocating to Hampton, Va., in the spring. . . . Nikhil Sivakumaran's
short film, Diwali, won in the Asian-American category in the Seventh
Annual Directors Guild of America Student Film Awards. He has been invited to
screen at the 2002 Cannes International Film Festival. . . . Auragen Communications,
Inc., founded by David Thiel, Frederick Beer, and Damir Saracevic,
was listed at 193 on Inc. magazine's 500 list, which highlights fast
growing companies. They also placed 32nd on the list of Rochester's 100 fastest-growing
privately held businesses listed in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle
newspaper. . . . The late Zhe (Zack) Zeng '98S (MBA) was honored by New
York Gov. George Pataki as one of the heroes of September 11. A trained EMT,
Zheng was last seen on television at the World Trade Center helping those injured
in the terrorist attacks.

Steven Ambrusko and Amy Clement Ambrusko write that they were
expecting their first child in June. "With the baby on the way, we are
moving to nicer quarters, but all else is going well," they write. Amy
is an elementary school counselor in Buffalo, and Steven is in his second year
of pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Buffalo. . . . Darrin Hubert
married Jennifer Lenox '97 on May 26, 2001, and sent a photo. In attendance

They live in Rochester, where Richard is doing a residency in anesthesiology

Brian Daboll is one of 15 assistant coaches on the Super Bowl Champion
New England Patriots National Football League team. He is one of two coaching
assistants who aid the 13 position coaches under head coach Bill Belichick.
. . . Susanne Grossman was planning to marry Kevin Lamb in May 2002.
She is a speech language pathologist with Enduracare at New Vista Nursing and
Rehab Center in Newark, and he is vice president of Prime Time Sports Communications.
. . . Caurie Ann Miner Putnam '98W (MS) married Arthur Burns on July
7, 2001. Present at the wedding were Neda Burtman-Wetmore, Mark Remick,
Kate Aidala '02, Kristin Cipollone '02, Melissa Hendricks
'02, and Stephanie Miner '02. The wedding was filmed for the daytime
television show A Wedding Story and shown on The Learning Channel. "We
were totally psyched to get picked by the show and very happy with the end result,"
Caurie writes. . . . Samuel Sadoulet married Lindsey Poeth '99
on August 25, 2001. He is an optical engineer at Edmund Optics in Tucson, Ariz.,
and she is a marketing analyst at Velcro USA.

John Almansberger married Sara Massari on October 6, 2001. He is a salesman
with Elan Biopharmaceutical in Albany, and she is a chemist at Albany Molecular
Research Co. . . . Daniel Bobowski married Christine Donahue in June
2001. He is a process engineer at HV&L Industries, and she is a teacher
at Nazareth Hall in Rochester. . . . Megan Engleman sends an update.
She received her master's degree in education and also recently got engaged.
The couple are planning a December wedding . . . Meghan LaForce '99 (Mas)
married Fred Brooks II on July 14, 2001. She is a fifth grade teacher in Rochester
and an assistant field hockey coach, and he is an intermediate care facility
clinician with Lifetime Assistance.

Jerramy Fine works for Guinness World Records, researching and confirming
records. . . . Paul Witkiewitz graduated from the Submarine Officer Basic
Course of the U.S. Navy in October 2001.
