  • He coached the only two unbeaten, untied football teams-both the 1952 and 1958 teams finished 8-0-0
  • His 1951 and 1959 teams were 7-1
  • The 1959 team set a single-season rushing record that stood for 30 years
  • His teams of the 1950s had representatives on the AP Little All-America team for eight consecutive years
  • He came to Rochester from Purdue University where he coached the Boilermakers to an undefeated Big Ten championship
