At Rochester:

  • Earned six letters between basketball and baseball
  • Captained the 1938-39 basketball team, which finished 12-1
  • Won the Golden Athletic Award in 1939
  • Earned his BA in Economics in 1939

Post-Graduate:

  • Five years of military service, culminating as Chief, Logistics Section, USAF China Theater
  • Mustered out as Lt. Col. with a Bronze Star
  • Joined Sears, Roebuck & Co. in 1939 and returned to the company in 1946 after military service
  • Held several management positions with Sears, including manager of the Merchandise Comparison Department from 1960-65, and National Merchandise Manager from 1966-1974
  • Served with West Suburban Chapter of American Cancer Society, including terms as Chapter Crusade Chairman and Chapter Chairman
  • Played leadership roles in fund raising for organizations in Chicago and Los Angeles
  • Retired from Sears in 1980 after a 41-year career
