At Rochester:

  • Runner-up in the national in the Decathlon and qualified in the 120HH at nationals in his junior and senior years
  • School record holder for several Decathlon events
  • Very versatile performer in dual and state meets – hurdles, pole vault, and jumps
  • Broke the school record for multiple indoor hurdles distances as well as outdoors
  • The first Rochester Division III Track All-American

Post-Graduate:

  • Was commissioned into the US Navy and served as a Naval Flight Officer, flying the EA-6B Prowler with Electronic Warfare Squadron 130 based in Whidbey Island, Washington
  • Then became a jet navigation flight instructor in Pensacola, Florida before completing his active duty stint as Electronic Warfare Officer aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, CV-63
  • Worked as a Top Gun analyst at NAS Miramar while learning to love training for marathons
  • Since 1995 Ryan has worked for the Department of Defense with Space and Naval Warfare Command as an Information Technology Specialist
  • Spends his free time mountain biking and organizing rock climbing events
