At Rochester:

  • Versatile athlete, played center, offensive tackle, middle linebacker, and defensive end from 1956 to 1958
  • In 1958 the defensive line did not allow a single point in the first five games
  • Allowed only 19 points all season

Post-Graduate:

  • Served three years in the U.S. Navy
  • Received his doctorate in pharmacology from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1966
  • Spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow in radiation biology and biophysics at the University of Rochester Medical Center
  • Has been a faculty member at the University at Buffalo since 1967
