Why did you choose UR for graduate education (other than for your advisor)?

I chose the University of Rochester for its strong biology department, which works closely with the medical school to share resources and conduct amazing research. Our biology department has an incredible reputation, and I was excited to have the chance to join!

What resources or services (social, academic, or anything else) have you found most helpful at UR?

I'm not sure if this counts as a resource, but I've really enjoyed free access to the gym! Having a free space to stay active and take my mind off of school has been really nice, especially during the doldrums of winter.

What are your favorite spots on or off-campus (restaurants, festivals, natural trails, or whatever) in Rochester?

When I have free time, I love to immerse myself in nature! Some of the best places I've found are Highland Park, which is great for a quick walk and enjoying some flowers, and Mendon Ponds, a larger park just outside of the city with many trails. I've also recently started exploring the area around Ithaca and the Finger Lakes; there are some amazing camping sites and hiking trails!
