A Message from
the Executive Director of Athletics—
George VanderZwaag
The 2017–2018 season was one
of our most successful ever. Three
teams—field hockey, men’s soccer,
and women’s basketball—reached
the Elite 8 in the NCAA Division III
Championships. Squash finished
the season ranked #6 nationally
in the College Squash Association
rankings. Individually, several
athletes competed in national
championships, including Rachel

Bargabos ’19 in cross country,
Michaela Burrell ’20 in outdoor track and field, and Eileen
Bequette ’21 in both indoor and outdoor track and field.
Division III Championship in the outdoor heptathlon and
finished 4th nationally in the indoor pentathlon. She is just
the second athlete in school history to win three NCAA
titles after she was a double-national champion last season,
winning the outdoor heptathlon and the indoor pentathlon.
We are excited for the year ahead. We recruited an
outstanding first-year class who excel academically and
on the field and expect them to make a positive impact on
our teams and our community. We also welcome a talented
new coaching staff for football, with Chad Martinovich at
the helm. After building a successful program at MIT, Chad
and his staff have hit the ground running as we reestablish
strength in our football program.
This fall, we will complete major renovations to the Fauver
Stadium ground floor, which will provide updated space for
visiting teams, game officials, and also provide meeting and
event space. With the new Boehning Varsity House and other
renovations to the Prince Athletic Complex complete, our
facilities now reflect the quality of our amazing campus and
help us continue to attract students of the highest quality.
As always, this progress and success would not be possible
without your support. I’m grateful for your continued
leadership and involvement and hope to see many of you
during the upcoming academic year.
Go ’Jackets!
