Robert Vehar (MM) has retired from teaching
full time at several schools, including SUNY Potsdam and the University of
Bridgeport in Ontario, Canada, and is now an adjunct instructor at SUNY Buffalo.

Organist Peter DuBois performed an organ dedication
recital at the Webster (N.Y.) Presbyterian Church in March. He is organist
and music director at Third Presbyterian Church in Rochester.
1981
The premiere of an original composition by Dan Locklair
(DMA), Lairs of Soundings: A Triptych for Soprano and String Orchestra,
was performed by St. John’s Chamber Orchestra of Stockton, Calif., on
January 26. The composition was based on poetry of Ursula K. LeGuin. Another
of Dan’s works, Three Nativity Songs, was premiered by soprano
Janeanne Houston with members of the Seattle Symphony on a new CD, Living
Mysteries. Dan is composer in residence and professor of music at Wake
Forest University. . . . American General Financial Services has promoted
Kevin Wilson (MM) to director of corporate development.

in concert with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in March. Benefits went
to the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Young Audiences of Rochester.

Kew Gardens in Queens, N.Y., in March, as part of Women’s History Month.

The Lyric Brass Quintet, including Andrew Spang
(MM) on tuba, released their second CD, Christmas Around the World,
last year. Many of the disc’s 25 arrangements were by Andrew.

Christopher Fensom (MM) is engaged to marry Tara Noval in August 2003 in Pittsford,
N.Y. Christopher is a member of the trumpet section of the Charlotte (N.C.)
Symphony Orchestra. Tara is a violinist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

Navy Seaman Recruit Steven Haase, recently completed training with honors.
. . . Mariusz Smolij (DMA) has been appointed music director of the Acadiana
Symphony Orchestra in Lafayette, La.
2001
Laura Enslin (MM) participated in an artist residency at Webster (N.Y.) Thomas
High School last December, soloing with the high school’s women’s
chorus and string orchestra. Laura teaches voice at Nazareth College in Rochester
and is a doctoral student at Eastman.
