Victor Greene (MA) retired from his position as professor emeritus of history at the University of WisconsinÐMilwaukee but continues his research. He is the author of A Singing Ambivalence: American Immigrants Between Old World and New.

1970
James Acheson (PhD), professor of anthropology and marine sciences at the University of Maine, was named the 2004 winner of the American Anthropological Association’s Kimball award for effecting change in public policy. . . . Robert Brown (PhD) is professor of communications at Salem State College in Massachusetts. He received the college’s award for best faculty publication for the book Joan Alcover: Elegies, which he translated with Catalan-language scholar Kristine Doll. Last June, Robert received the Joanne Fussa Distinguished Teaching award in the Certificate of Special Studies in Administration and Management from Harvard University’s School of Continuing Education, where he is an adjunct professor in the graduate program. In July, he was named to the editorial board of the Public Relations Review. . . . Gary Ostrower (PhD), professor of history at Alfred University, participated in a symposium at Harvard University honoring the work and career of historian Akira Iriye, who retired from Harvard’s history department.

Hal Hicks S (MS) is a member of Disabled American Veterans’ board of directors and heads the eighth district of the national executive committee. Previously, he was state commander for the DAV.

1973
Kathy York Haaland (PhD) is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and a neuropsychologist at the Albuquerque Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is the vice chair for Research in Psychiatry and was the president of the neuropsychology division of the American Psychological Association for 2003Ð04. She was named a V.A. Research Career Scientist and editor-in-chief of the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society. In 2004, she won the A. Earl Walker award from New Mexico’s medical school in recognition of her research, which focuses on the study of motor deficits in stroke and Parkinson’s disease patients. Her husband, David Haaland (PhD), is a senior scientist at Sandia National Labs. Their son, Ryan, is a student at Oregon State University.

J. Theodore Anagnoson (PhD), professor of political science at California State University–Los Angeles, received the university’s President’s Distinguished Professor award for 2004Ð05.

Bernice Weiss Skirboll (MS), founder of Compeer Inc., is now the company’s executive consultant.

Pamela York Klainer’s W (EdD) strategic consulting firm, Power and Money, hosted an executive summit last October for female business leaders to find ways to “dig in and support city and county government to make the [Rochester] region work economically for all its citizens.” Gail Evans ’94S (MBA), director of the worldwide e-business technology platform for Kodak Worldwide Information Systems, attended. . . . Kyle Smith S (MBA) is president of the consulting firm RedWind Group in Houston.

James Sharpe S (MBA) is vice president of business development for Oragenics, a Florida biotechnology company. Previously, he founded and was president of Ankyr Consulting in New Jersey.

Lynn Hatrick S (MBA) is CEO of UStec, a home networking services company in Victor, N.Y.

Thomas McLain S (MBA), chairman, CEO, and president of Nabi Biopharmaceuticals, was elected chairman of the board of the nonprofit organization BioFlorida. . . . Dennis Shogren S (MBA) was promoted to senior vice president of finance for Modtech Holdings. Previously, he was chief financial officer for the company.

Taj Bindra S (MBA), former chief financial officer and executive vice president for Chase Home Finance, has been named executive vice president of finance and servicing operations of mortgage banking at Washington Mutual. . . . Suzanne Kronick Tunnell S (MBA) has joined Crisis Nursery of Greater Rochester as executive director. The organization provides a safe haven for young children whose families are in crisis. . . . Howard Zemsky S (MBA) has been appointed to the Buffalo State College Council. Howard is a managing partner of Taurus Capital.

Alice Calabrese Smith S (MBA) is president and CEO of the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm in Perinton, N.Y. Previously, she was executive vice president of the organization.

Efrain Rivera S (MBA) has been named corporate vice president and treasurer of Bausch & Lomb.

Charles Avallone S (MBA) and Terri Gumina announce their engagement. A July wedding is planned. . . . Frederick Kulikowski S (MBA) was appointed president and COO of Commercial Federal Corp. He also was named a member of the company’s board of directors. Previously, he was senior vice president in charge of business banking at M&T Bank Corp. . . . Dana Mehnert S (MBA) has been named vice president and general manager of business development and operations for the RF Communications division of Harris Corp. in Rochester. He has been with Harris since 1985, most recently as vice president of international operations and U.S. government sales and operations. . . . Christopher Webber S (MBA) and Andrea Reinking were married on July 10 in Fayetteville, N.Y. Christopher is a senior buyer for Welch Allyn, and Andrea is a doctoral candidate at Syracuse University. They live in DeWitt, N.Y.

Susan Chuang W (PhD), assistant professor of child and family studies at Syracuse University’s College of Human Services and Health Professions, presented “Swedish Adolescents’ Relational and Assertive Self-Concepts Across Social Contexts and Relationships,” with Michael Lamb and Philip Hwang, at the American Psychological Society’s 16th annual convention in Chicago last May.
