The Learning Center Tutor Mentors are passionate and skilled tutors committed to delivering exceptional peer tutoring. They play a vital role within the TLC Tutoring Program across various departments on campus, participate in conferences as presenters, and contribute to the recruitment, hiring, and training of new tutors. Their dedication goes beyond expectations, setting a remarkable example for others in the program.

Aiden Ward

Hey! I'm Aiden (they/them). I'm a senior majoring in biochemistry who works in supramolecular, biology mimicking chemistry. So if I'm not in class or tutoring, I'm most likely making some molecules in my lab! I mainly tutor organic chemistry and biology classes on the biochem track (genetics, biochem, etc.) but I also tutor intro programming classes. Serena Khalifeh

Hello! My name is Serena Khalifeh, I am a junior majoring in Cell and Developmental Biology on the pre-med track! I mostly tutor in intro biology and chemistry courses. I am also working as a TA for BIOL 198P (Genetics Lab) and as a First-Year Fellow. Outside of class, I really like reading and singing. I also started a Baking Club on campus! Christin Napierkowski

Hi! I’m Christin (she/her), and I am a graduate student at the Warner School getting my MS in secondary math education. I graduated from the U of R in December 2024 with my BS in Mathematics and my BA in English Literature. Here at UR, I am in the Wind Symphony and Jazz Band, and in my free time, I love to read, draw, hike, and play the piano. I love to tutor and I believe that everyone can do math, even though it is super difficult sometimes! Feel free to reach out with any questions or if you need anything at all.

Kelvin Nguyen

Hi, I'm Kelvin Nguyen (he/him), a junior majoring in Honors Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. I tutor most undergraduate math courses, from Calculus to Real/Complex Analysis. Currently, I’m in my fourth semester as a Math TA and Study Group Leader, having led recitations for Math 141–165, often multiple times. I also work as a Lab TA in the Computer Science Department, teaching labs for CSC 171 and 172. When I’m not in Carlson or the Math Lounge studying for the subject GRE, I enjoy building Legos and spending time with my girlfriend. Feel free to reach out with any questions about tutoring or math. Hi everyone! My name is Gabe (he/him). I'm a junior with a major in Honors Mathematics and minors in Economics and Music. I'm also pursuing an Operations Research Certificate. I mainly tutor mathematics and physics classes. I also work on campus as a Math TA and Study Group Leader. As a Math TA, I've led recitations for Math 161, Math 201, and currently Math 143. Derek Ju

Hello! My name is Derek Ju and I am a junior majoring in Psychology and Cell & Developmental Biology on the pre-dental track. I mainly tutor biology and chemistry courses required for most biology majors. Outside of class, I volunteer at the Strong Memorial Hospital and work as a research assistant at the Wynne Center for Family Research and at Dr. Jamieson’s Social Stress Lab. You can find me studying late at night in Gleason Library!
