SWARM Trainings
SWARM (Students Wanting Activities Responsibly Monitored) Event Manager Trainings are held periodically throughout the academic year to help prepare members of recognized student organizations to be event managers for registered student organization events. There are two versions of this training, SWARM and SWARM 2.0.
SWARM training helps students understand the following:
- Understand what risk is and common risks associated with student organizations.
- Understand the PREFFS model for identifying risk.
- Understand University of Rochester policies about events
- Know where to find resources on campus to mitigate risk
- Understand and identify the role and responsibility of an event manager(s)
SWARM counts for a Civic Engagement Level 1 Workshop for the Medallion Leadership program.
SWARM 2.0 training helps students understand the following:
- Understand University of Rochester policies about hosting events with alcohol
- Understand physical injury risk and how to document it properly
- Know their conflict management style
- Understand how to deescalate a situation during an event
- Understand how to put on a large event successfully
SWARM 2.0 counts for a Interpersonal Competence Level 2 Workshop for the Medallion Leadership program.
