SIMON BUSINESS EASTMAN INSTITUTE SCHOOL FOR ORAL HEALTH • Dr. Eli Eliav was named the new director of the institute, as well as the vice dean for oral health within the School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is a widely published expert in oral medicine and orofacial pain, and has a longstanding history for gaining support from National Institutes of Health, as well as funding $ • Two division-specifc fellowships, the Jack G. Caton for industry research and service grants. Graduate Fellowship and the Stanley L. Handelman $1,019,312 Fellowship, were awarded to distinguished residents Pledged who will pursue careers in academic dentistry. • Phase I of the prosthodontics clinic renovation was completed. Phase II, which will allow innovative teaching of residents in a state-of-the-art facility, is underway. WARNER SCHOOL GOLISANO OF EDUCATION CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL • Gifs supported the continued construction inside the new hospital. Te eight-story building is scheduled to open in 2015 and will feature signifcant improvements such as the Gosnell Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, private patient rooms, and an advanced imaging facility. • Our Pediatric Orthopaedics program earned a place among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s $ Hospitals listing for the ffh consecutive year, and maintained a reputation for expertise in treating scoliosis, hip, and rib deformities on the East Coast. $1,862,974 • Scientists identifed a group of gene mutations that Pledged may be behind up to 10 percent of complex congenital heart defects, the most frequent type of birth defect and a leading cause of infant death.
