Housing Lottery
For all Students (Classes: 2026, 2027, 2028)
Students from the classes of 2026, 2027, and 2028 are eligible for housing for the 2025-2026 academic year and may select their room and roommate(s)/suitemates. Students in the Class of 2028 are required to live in campus housing as part of the university’s two-year residency requirement.
Fifth-year students (T-5, e5, and those needing an additional semester to graduate) are not eligible to participate in the housing lottery. However, they may submit a waitlist housing application to the Residential Life office for consideration if space is available after all other eligible students have been assigned.
The housing application for the 2025-2026 academic year is open from Friday, March 14, 2025, to Friday, April 4, 2025, closing at 11:59 PM.
Students from the Class of 2026 or 2027 who miss the deadline will not be eligible to participate in the housing lottery and must submit a waitlist housing application. The waitlist application opens on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Reminder for Current First-Year Students:
When you entered Rochester, you signed a two-year housing agreement. The College has determined that living on campus is important to the successful development of our students.
There are only two circumstances where a contract release would be considered. Contract release options are extreme financial hardship or a medical disability; supporting documentation is required. Please submit documentation directly to the respective office and not to Residential Life. If a contract release is recommended, the respective office will reach out directly to Residence Life with the decision. Residential Life will then reach out to the student.
- To request a release for financial reasons, meet with someone from the Office of Financial Aid, regardless if you receive financial aid.
- To request a release for medical reasons, follow the instructions listed in the Office of Disability Resources. Before submitting a medical accommodation request, review the Medical Release Criteria sheet to understand the determining factors used by the Office of Disability Resources.
