Trek Leaders

These current URochester students are selected to guide and mentor incoming students as they participate in the University of Rochester Orientation Outing Treks (FOOT) program.

With different backgrounds. varied life experiences, and a wide range of interests both inside and outside the classroom, the FOOT Trek Leaders are bound together by their shared love of outdoor adventure and helping our newest Yellowjackets thrive. They can't to meet you!

Nazia is a rising sophomore majoring in biochemistry and planning on attending medical school. Her own experience last year as a trekee makes her excited about being one of your FOOT Trek Leaders!

Lily is a rising junior majoring in biology and a Rochester area native. She's returning for her second year as a FOOT Trek Leader because she loves that she gets to meet so many new people through the program. She can't wait to get to know this year’s trekees!

Samantha is a rising sophomore double majoring in epidemiology and Spanish. She loves learning about the public health field and people's cultural experiences, as well as participating in student organizations (she's currently involved in six!) She can't wait to meet all of this trekees and embark on adventurous hiking trips.

Quin is a rising junior double majoring in psychology and brain and cognitive sciences with a minor in American Sign Language. She's returning for her second year as a FOOT Trek Leader because she had tons of fun getting to know last year's participants and helping them get acquainted with campus and one another. She looks forward to meeting this year's trekees!

Mael is a rising sophomore majoring in physics and an international student from Spain. He loves traveling, hiking, and anything that involves a good adventure. He's also part of an a cappella group on campus and absolutely loves music. He's so excited to go hiking with this year's trekees—and maybe splash a few of you while kayaking!

Ben is a rising sophomore majoring in biology and planning to attend medical school. He is from Ellicott City, Maryland, and loves to snowboard, rock climb, and play soccer. He's excited to meet this year's new students and show them around campus and the city of Rochester.

Ang is a rising sophomore majoring in neuroscience and hails from the Jersey shore. She's involved in Women's Club Lacrosse, Outing Club, Gamma Phi Beta sorority, and the Charles Drew Pre-Health Society. She loved her time as a participant in last year's FOOT program, including all the new people she got to meet (many of whom she still talks to today!). She’s excited to meet all of this year’s trekees.

Nova is a rising sophomore planning to major in history. They play on the University’s softball team and are involved with club rugby. Nova had so much fun last year as a participant in the FOOT program that they are back this year as a Trek Leader. They can’t to meet this year’s trekees and return to all the beautiful outdoor places the FOOT program will explore.

Paula is a rising senior majoring in biomedical engineering. She grew up by the beach in Mexico and is happiest anywhere near the ocean or outdoors. She recently studied abroad in Sydney, Australia, where she fell even more in love with nature and adventure. As a former trekee, FOOT made URochester feel like home from the very beginning, and she can’t wait to help incoming students have that same experience!

Yuriy is a rising senior enrolled in the Health and Epidemiology Advanced Learning (HEAL) five-year master's degree program and majoring in epidemiology. He's excited to share his URochester experiences and wisdom with this year's FOOT program trekees.

Interested in serving as a FOOT Trek Leader? The heart and soul of URochester's First-Year Orientation Outing Treks program, these students serve as a mentors, facilitators, and role models for a small group of incoming students during this multi-day pre-orientation experience.
