2016 Fall Season Wrap-Up
MEN’S SOCCER (9-5-3, 2-3-2 UAA)
Team Highlights
• The Yellowjackets won the Flower City title for the eighth straight year
and the 14th time in 27 years
• Rochester went nine straight games undefeated and undefeated at home
for the season
• The men competed in their 17th NCAA tournament and it was their 10th
appearance in the Division III tournament in the last 12 years
• The Yellowjackets earned their 15th straight National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award
Individual Highlights
• Alex DiPerna ’18 was named the Flower City tournament’s Most Valuable
Player and Jeff Greblick ’17 was honored with the Best Offensive Player
award
• Greblick was named All-Region by the NSCAA
• Patrick Conway ’19 was elected to the 2016 College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team
• Ten Yellowjackets received UAA All-Academic honors: seniors Zachary
Kanaley and Ben Swanger; juniors Aleks Dombrowski and Peter Martin;
sophomores Nik Angyal, Conway, Milan Fatschel, Alex Hay, Bryce Ikeda, ERIC FRANKLIN ’17
and Lucas Loecher
• Seniors Tanner Chester, Swanger, and Greblick were awarded All-UAA
Second Team honors
WOMEN’S SOCCER (5-7-6, 2-3-2 UAA)
Team Highlights
• The University of Rochester again retained the #1 strength of schedule
in DIII for 2016
• The Yellowjackets played a nationally or regionally ranked opponent
JEFF GREBLICK ’17 15 of 18 contests
• The women defeated then #12 Washington University (2016 NCAA
National Champion) 3-1 in their UAA opener
• The Yellowjackets remained the only UAA team to defeat Washington
University, one of three teams representing UAA in the NCAA Final Four
• Rochester defeated then #17 and NCAA Final Four team Brandeis
University on the road in the UAA
Individual Highlights
• Thirteen Yellowjackets were awarded UAA All-Academic honors—
the most honorees of Rochester’s fall teams
• Four Yellowjackets were awarded UAA honors: senior Kim Stagg and
sophomore McKenzie Runyan were awarded Second Team honors;
junior Sydney Melton and sophomore Megan Runyan were awarded
Honorable Mention
• Kim Stagg ’17 was honored as a 2nd Team All-East Region selection as
announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
• Jean Chakmakas ’17 was awarded UAA Offensive Player of the Week
after scoring two goals against #12 University of Washington Bears
• Samantha Hlavac ’19 was named Best Defensive Player after getting
her first full shutout in the Flower City Classic
