Hayly Czubinski ’21W (MA)
Dan Fichtner-Anna Grum Scholarship
The Dan Fichtner-Anna Grum Scholarship at the
University’s Warner School of Education was
established by Dan Fichtner ’67W (MA) in 2010.
The purpose of this endowed scholarship is to
provide assistance to a student who is pursuing
an advanced degree for teaching or counseling.
Preference may be given to those studying
TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language)
or to those who are serving school districts in
high-needs communities or intend to do so upon
graduation. Fichtner named the scholarship after
Anna Grum, who supported his education from
the seventh grade through his PhD.

pined to play school. Growing
A up, she enjoyed helping friends
with their homework. In high school and
college, she took up tutoring. During that
formative time, Czubinski’s father was
in the military and was often gone for
years at a time, serving overseas. When
he retired, he became a math and special
education teacher. Her mother worked in
education, too, as a paraprofessional.
