How do I Collect Assignments?

The Blackboard Assignment tool offers you the ability to collect digital files as assignments from your students. It acts as a "homework dropbox" and any digital file can be collected through this tool.

An assignment must be created for each submission you wish to collect.

Note:

The maximum size of all files uploaded in a single assignment can be no larger than 1 Gb. If your student submissions tend to be larger than this, there are alternate methods to accept homework.

  • Students can store the files in a cloud service (suggested: Rochester Box or Google Drive for ASE undergraduates and Eastman School of Music students). They can then provide a link to their stored file using the Write Submission option in the Blackboard assignment tool.
  • For assignments requiring video or audio submissions, pleas use the Panopto Assignment Dropbox. Please note, this does not generate a Grade Center column - one must be created manually.
  • For non-video assignments, you may want to consider using the Box upload widget. Please note, this does not generate a Grade Center column - one must be created manually.

Student submissions can be viewed and retrieved from the Grade Center. See How do I Share Student Grades Confidentially for more information.
