                          Scawn


                          Irish Buttermilk Cake


        SERVES: 4–6                        PREP TIME: 15 min                  COOK TIME: 1 hr




        INGREDIENTS:                       DIRECTIONS:

        4  cups flour (sifted)             Cut butter into dry ingredients. Add raisins then
                                           buttermilk. Gently stir. Pour into 8” square pan.
        1   cup sugar
                                           Bake at 350°F for 1 hour—test for “doneness.”
        ½  lb butter (2 sticks)
                                           This is my mother’s recipe. Nearly heaven when
        1   tsp salt                       eaten warm out of the oven.

        1   tsp baking soda


        1   cup raisins

        2  cups buttermilk
