Dine Around the World

Dine Around the World (DAW) is a Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center signature program series that partners with University-recognized student organizations to celebrate culture through food. Through this initiative, student organizations can host a cooking event in the community kitchen that highlights their cultural traditions and cherished meals.

The BIC provides up to $150 for ingredients, removing financial barriers that often make food-centered cultural programming difficult. Additionally, BIC will support several logistics, including the VEMS reservation for the community kitchen, purchasing ingredients, and CCC event registration, allowing student organizations to focus on sharing their culture and engaging their community. A unique aspect of DAW is our ability to purchase ingredients from cultural grocery stores, such as the Asia Food Market, International Food Market, and Namaste; which may otherwise be limited by student organization budgeting guidelines, to ensure meals are made with authentic ingredients. Upon submitting an interest form, participating student organizations must confirm they have at least one executive board member who is a community kitchen approved user who will be present for the event and serve as the main point of contact. Information on community kitchen training can be found on the CCC website.

By participating in a DAW event, student organizations gain meaningful institutional support while creating an immersive cultural experience for our campus community. If your organization is interested in partnering with us, please follow the steps outlined below to review our planning timeline and proposal submission process.

Craft Around the World

Craft Around the World (CAW) is a Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center signature program series that partners with University-recognized student organizations to celebrate their culture through art and self-expression. This series encourages cross-cultural learning and appreciation through cultural exchange and collaboration. The BIC provides up to $100 for materials, and will support VEMS reservation of the BIC living room and CCC event registration. In your proposal, we ask that you provide a craft idea significant to your culture and designate a representative to lead the craft.

If your organization is interested in partnering with us, please follow the steps outlined below to review our planning timeline and proposal submission process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the BIC located?

The BIC is located in 305 Douglass Commons.

How do I contact the program assistants who plan DAW and CAW?
What happens if I don’t submit the forms in time?

Late submissions of any of the forms or information required for our processes and timeline will not be considered, and your organization will be asked to reschedule your event for a later date.

Can we host more than one DAW or CAW each semester?

To ensure fairness for all interested student organizations, we typically limit each organization to one DAW and one CAW event per academic year.

Can we co-host a DAW or CAW with another organization?

Yes! We love to see organizations collaborate with each other on these programs. Please let our team know who you plan to co-host your event with during your initial meeting with our program assistants so we can plan accordingly. For co-hosted DAW or CAW events, we will typically double the programming budget for ingredients and supplies. Co-hosting an event with another organization will still count as an event for both organizations for the semester.

Can we host CAW outside of the BIC?

No, all CAW events must take place in the BIC. Available days/times will be provided.
