We are excited to announce Yellowjacket Weekend 2023! We have so many things planned for you to welcome you to the fall 2023 semester. We’ve got games, food trucks, giveaways, music, and more! All LGBTQ students are welcome to attend and meet other LGBTQ students, faculty, and staff! Plus, students can receive Meliorainbow lanyards and enter to win prizes. Sponsored by the Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center.

Yellowjacket Weekend Carnival
Wilson Quad | 2 P.M. – 6 P.M.
Enjoy carnival games, water slides, novelties, sand volleyball, tie dye, food trucks, and more. Plus, featured activities from student organizations! Food truck tickets can be purchased from the Shops @ WilCo for $3 and $7.
- Powder Fete
Inspired by J’Ouvert, which originated in Trinidad with the festivities of Canboulay, which was a time when sugarcane fields caught on fire and slaves were still forced to harvest the remaining crops before complete destruction. That event was reenacted and male slaves were mocked by their masters. However, after emancipation of slavery, the slaves mocked the masters mocking them. The festival usually begins way before the crack of dawn and proceeds a little past sunrise. For SOCA, Powder Fete is an event to catch up, have fun, and enjoy great company during Yellow Jacket Weekend. Sponsored by SOCA.
