Why did you choose UR for graduate education?

I chose UR for its strong neuroscience program and the collaborative research environment. Everyone I’ve met has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, which made it easy to imagine growing both academically and personally here.

What resources or services have you found most helpful at UR?

The gym has been a great resource, giving me a mental and physical break from the lab and a chance to destress after long hours of work. It helps me clear my mind and recharge. The people at the GEPA office have also been amazing, particularly the events they host like Graduate Research Day and the Graduate Research Symposium.

Favorite spots on or off-campus in Rochester?

A new Yemeni coffee shop, Layali Coffee House, recently opened and has quickly become a favorite off-campus spot. The baklava and pistachio matcha are amazing, and the interior is beautiful with plenty of space to work, study, or relax. It’s also conveniently right next to Dave’s Hot Chicken, which is one of my favorite chicken places!
