Why did you choose UR for graduate education?
I came to UR because of its excellent reputation in my field, and because of the affiliated medical center. As a biology PhD student, it’s amazing to have so many collaborators nearby in different fields.
What resources or services have you found the most helpful at UR?
We have a great core facility for sequencing and data analysis that I’ve used for my research. Also, I’ve taken advantage of the health center and athletic facilities, which PhD students get to use for free.
What are your favorite spots on or off-campus in Rochester?
In my off time I love to walk around Highland Park near campus. It’s a huge park with a reservoir, and hundreds of types of trees- it’s famous for its collection of lilac trees, which all bloom in early spring.
