Why did you choose UR for graduate education?
I chose University of Rochester because of its focus on graduate student research, strong connections to the medical center, and its unique combination of data science with genomics. I have found faculty are consistently excited to work with graduate students across different departments and tend to be highly supportive of student projects and interests.
What resources or services have you found the most helpful at UR?
The University Health Services (UHS), University Counseling Center (UCC), and Goergen Athletic Center (GAC) are super helpful resources. It’s a huge weight off your shoulders to know that even when the semester gets busy, there’s a whole team ready to help you manage your health/stress right here on campus!
What are your favorite spots on or off-campus in Rochester?
On campus, I like studying at Carlson library; I usually find it a bit less crowded than Rush Rhees and the engineering quad is never out of sight. Off campus I love exploring the coffee shops of Rochester, some of my favorites are Winter Swan, Localist, and Layali – there are always new cafes, restaurants, and experiences opening too, so you never get too bored in Rochester!
