$2K Grant Available for Exchange Programs in Australia, China, Israel, Japan, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom

Rochester students interested in study abroad experiences now have an expanded and improved selection of opportunities in exchange programs. Exchange programs offer students the option of directly enrolling for a semester’s or year’s study at select partner institutions. Direct enrollment provides undergrads the opportunity to explore and study overseas in a more independent, self-directed way by integrating fully into the campus community as a full-time student.

The College is pleased to announce the funding of a new grant that will provide $2,000 per semester for students to use toward their studies at one of our exchange partners. This initiative is part of the University’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with leading universities around the world. One of the advantages of exchanges is that they permit The College to accept students from partner institutions who ”trade places” with our students. Many of the partner institutions are members of the World University Network, which Rochester joined in 2012. 

All programs offer coursework in English unless otherwise indicated. Fields of study vary from place to place, but generally the full range of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering courses are available. As of spring 2014 eligible exchanges include:

Australia – Australian National University, Canberra – fall, spring or full year

China – Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Chinese University of Hong Kong - fall, spring or full year

Israel – Braude College of Technology, Karmiel – spring only

Japan – Meji_Gakuin University, Tokyo – spring only or full year. Prerequisite - one year of Japanese language study

Peru – Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, Lima - fall, spring or full year. Prerequisite - two years of Spanish language study

Singapore – Nanyang Technological University - fall, spring or full year

South Korea – Seoul National University - fall, spring or full year

Sweden – Uppsala University, Uppsala - spring only or full year

United Kingdom – University of Bristol (spring only or full year); University of Sussex, fall, spring or full year; University of York (spring only or full year)
