A Message from Dean Anne-Marie Algier and SA President John Conduah

Dear Yellowjackets:

Dandelion Day is almost here, and we’re looking forward to celebrating this Rochester tradition with you. The day will feature warmer weather, free food in the Dandelion Lounge, rides, novelties, and a full slate of student-led activities. There are many ways to enjoy the day. Dozens of students have invested significant time in planning this event. We hope you take part in what they’ve created. For a full schedule of events, please visit the Dandelion Day website.

In preparation for Friday, please keep a few expectations in mind to help ensure the day runs smoothly for everyone. All University policies remain in effect and will be enforced. Open alcohol containers are not permitted. If you are carrying a bag, be aware that security staff may request to search it at event entry points to ensure no prohibited items, such as alcohol, are brought in. Containers suspected of holding alcohol may need to be emptied or removed.

Stay hydrated, eat throughout the day at food trucks or with Health Promotion’s walking taco bar, and dress appropriately for the weather. If someone needs medical attention, seek help immediately; MERT will be present. The University of Rochester Medical Amnesty Policy allows students to request assistance without hesitation.

Dandelion Day is for current University of Rochester students only. No guests, including siblings or alumni, are allowed. The evening concert is exclusively for current undergraduates, and a valid University ID is required. During the concert, avoid behaviors such as pushing or starting mosh pits, as these create unsafe conditions and are not permitted.

Remember, being part of this community extends beyond campus boundaries. Your actions, both on and off campus, shape how the University is viewed by others. Make responsible choices. Manage alcohol use, follow local laws, and treat others with respect. This helps maintain positive relationships that affect student life, safety, and future events like this.

If you have any questions, please reach out. We want to ensure that everything is clear so you can focus on enjoying the day. Let’s make this a safe, memorable, and outstanding Dandelion Day together. Enjoy the celebration!
