Important Dates

Below is an approximate timeline for incoming students during their first year. For specific information, see our calendar along with information from admission and orientation.

Note: In addition to these dates, residents can expect a number of mandatory floor meetings about upcoming campus processes run by their floor RA.

Approximate Timeline for Incoming Students

Mid-May

Housing contracts released with other important admissions information on MyRoc.

May-June

Applications to become an EcoRep are available.

Early June

Housing contract is due for priority consideration.

Mid-July

Housing assignments, including roommate information is released to students.

Note: Transfer students who apply for fall term housing are not likely to hear about housing until after July 15. Some assignments will come later, sometimes close to or after classes begin.

Early August

Detailed move in information is provided for incoming international students, domestic students, and transfer students.

Late August

International students, domestic students, and transfer students move in days typically occur around one week before the first day of classes (on different days).

Late August-Early September

Elections and applications for residential leadership ambassadors are available for those interested students.

Early October

University fall break. Students are not required to leave campus housing for this break.

End of October-Early November

Applications to be an RA are released for interested students.

End of November

University Thanksgiving break. Students are not required to leave campus housing for this break.

Mid to Late December

Beginning of the University’s winter break. Students are required to leave campus housing within 48 hours of their last final or sign up for break housing (break halls usually include SBA, Genesee, Southside, Riverview, and Brooks but may change). Students can see the dates and times of each semester’s finals on the registrar’s website.

Mid-January

Hall opening for spring semester typically includes a regular opening day and a room change day (all students wanting to change rooms must arrive on this day to do so) approximately three to five days before the first day of classes.

Late January-Early February

Applications for fellows and D’Lions are released for those interested students.

Early to Mid-March

Spring break. Students are not required to leave housing for this break.

Mid-March

Information about housing selection for the next academic year starts to come out.

April

Housing selection for next year takes place.

Information about summer housing and summer housing contracts are released.

Mid-May

Spring hall closing; all students must vacate the halls 48 hours after their last final or have a completed summer housing contract. Students can see the dates and times of each semester’s finals on the registrar’s website.

Late May

Summer housing students move into their summer housing assignments.
