  • In on-campus student living spaces, students may be unmasked in their room with their roommate(s) or “family unit” (family units are defined in the FAQ). All other times, students should be masked.

Upperclass and Returning (Domestic and International)

The following information is for the Classes of 2022, 2023 and 2024 only.

The official move-in date for current undergraduates is Friday, August 20, 2021 beginning at 9 a.m. for both domestic and international students. (August 18 through August 19 is reserved for first-year move in.) Classes begin August 25, 2021. You are welcome to arrive anytime between August 21-25 as well.

For details see the returning and transfer students arrival dates, times and locations (pdf).

COVID 19 Vaccination Requirements

A COVID 19 vaccination or an approved exemption on religious or medical grounds is required for move-in to the residence halls.

Returning students arriving to their area check-in will be asked for their name in order to confirm vaccination status. Residential Life will have an up-to-date list from the University Health Service of vaccination compliant students.

Students will also be asked if they have arrived internationally within the previous 10 days.

  • If a student is vaccination compliant and arriving from within the United States or internationally more than 10 days prior to move-in, Residential Life will allow the student to move-in to the room.
  • If a student is vaccination compliant and has arrived internationally less than 10 days prior, the student must visit the UHS clinic location for a rapid COVID test. If the test is negative, the student will be issued a purple wristband (indicating the student is compliant) and can return to their residence hall area for check-in. Students will need to show the wristband to the residence hall staff member.
  • If a student has not received a vaccination, the student must visit the UHS clinic location for a rapid COVID test and the first of two Pfizer vaccinations. Once the COVID test and vaccination are complete, the student will be issued a purple wristband (indicating the student is compliant) and can return to their residence hall area for check-in. Students will need to show the wristband to the residence hall staff member.
  • If a student has only one vaccination of a two part vaccination series, they are not in compliance and will need to go to the UHS clinic for a COVID test and scheduling of the 2nd vaccination. The student will be issued a purple wristband (indicating the student is compliant) and can return to their residence hall area for check-in. The students will need to show the wristband to the residence hall staff member.
  • If a student has proof of a vaccination but have not submitted a copy to UHS, the student will need to visit the UHS Clinic designated for the day and submit the documentation directly to the UHS staff. The student will be issued a purple wristband (indicating the student is compliant) and can return to their residence hall area for check-in. Students will need to show the wristband to the residence hall staff member.
  • If a student is unvaccinated and has no intention of getting the vaccination or submitting a request for a medical or religious exemption, they will not be allowed to check-in.

If you know that you will not meet the requirements for move-in, you can shorten the process by going directly to the UHS clinic prior to arriving at your residence hall and take care of the necessary testing and vaccinations.
